Vadim

Where were you born? Year, Country, State. Where do you live currently?

I was born in Leningrad, USSR in 1973.  Currently live in Chicago, IL, USA.

What initially drew you to drawing pretty pictures?

I like to tell stories and a picture is worth a thousand words… so much easier!

Who is your favorite skateboarder, living or dead? Any ties to skateboarding?

Love and respect skateboarding but my memory is very bad - I cannot remember any names.

Who is your favorite artist, living or dead?

Too many to list and they are all dead, unfortunately.  Last weekend I spoke to another artist and he didn’t know who Rembrandt was… so, I won’t list not to embarrass anybody.

When you're not creating amazing works of art, what do you enjoy doing?

Party and read books.  Plus, there is a lot of practice that needs to happen before any amazing work of art comes out.

Who are your biggest influences?

I try to learn from anyone who has anything good to offer and offers it - since truly good influences are very hard to come by.

What mediums do you enjoy working in?

Anything analogue is up my alley.  Since so many people are into computers now, I keep it old school to be different.

Anything else you want to tell?

A bit about this piece – if you haven’t noticed, most of it was designed based on following the wood grain pattern.  This is my ‘literal’ take on art imitating nature… hope you like it.
