I have too many favorites to mention, but here are a few:
old skool: Gustav Klimt, Alphonse Mucha/Art Nouveau, Arthur Rackham/Victorian fairy tale illustration, John William Waterhouse/ Pre Raphaelites.... so many more!
There are way too many contemporaries that I love and get inspiration from... I'm blessed to know some amazing artists too! Constantly in awe and inspired!
When you're not creating amazing works of art, what do you enjoy doing?
Being a mother, Traveling to remote spots and interesting places (when I get the time!) enjoying great food (my husbands a chef) getting out in nature for walks and plunging in the river in the hot california summers.
Who are your biggest influences?
I have many, my Mum is pretty amazing. She's kind of a big influence for me.
What mediums do you enjoy working in?
Mainly I work in acrylic, ink on paper and pencil. But I've been trying to experiment and go back to using other mediums again, my last show was all on wood and I tried to use many different mediums to challenge myself a little.
Where were you born? Year, Country, State. Where do you live currently?
1974 Birmingham England, I now live in the woods near Grass Valley, California
What initially drew you to drawing pretty pictures?
I used to stay up in my room when i was 3 drawing. i loved the illustrations in victorian fairytale books when i was young, and my dad used to take me to art museums all around europe to see them, and other favorite paintings in person.
Who is your favorite skateboarder, living or dead? Any ties to skateboarding?
I used to hang out with skaters as a teenager and owned a skateboard but never got very good. I did meet Tony Hawk at a skate demo when I was 13 though. Then in college I hung out with some of the skater kids in the movie 'Kids' and got pretty close with Harold Hunter (RIP) ... so I guess I have a little background. I now am a part of an all-female collective of painters and skaters: Few and Far... though I stick to the painting ;)
