Sarah Danielle Stewart

Where were you born? Year, Country, State. Where do you live currently

I was born in Rockford, IL, and for unknown reasons have ended back up in the Country's 9th most dangerous city...Rockford, IL

What initially drew you to drawing pretty pictures

Creating is something that has never been a "decision" for me. I have been drawing and painting for literally as long as I can remember; there's a photo of me in the back yard with a little table easel painting when I was about 4. Artwork is as much as my daily life as eating, pooping and sleeping, and I cannot imagine a life without it. It is an escape for my mental state...it is an affair that owns a part of me, no questions asked. When I paint, I'm so focused and lost in it that sometimes I think the walls around me could explode and I wouldn't even notice. I guess I do it to get a message out of my head and share with people. I like to create artwork that makes people smile, that hopefully connects or resonates with people. I don't trust people that don't appreciate artwork, much less that don't create it. I'm kind of joking.....not really.

Who is your favorite skateboarder, living or dead? Any ties to skateboarding

Tillman the skateboarding Bulldog. Dude can shred. I have as much an appreciation of my natural clumsiness as I do for skateboarding, therefore I admire it from a respectful distance

Who is your favorite artist, living or dead?

It's impossible to to narrow it down. Guiseppe Arcimboldo, Francisco Goya, Max Ernst...the list goes on...with a contemporary shout out to Todd Schorr, Nosego, Nychos, and ETAM crew members Bezt and Sainer. Constantly blowing my mind..

When you're not creating amazing works of art, what do you enjoy doing

I'm a tattooist at Delicious Ink Tattoo, I cuddle my little dog Opie way too hard, I daydream more than is probably healthy, and I spend time with my awesome boyfriend who also happens to be showing his awesome artwork in this awesome show.

Who are your biggest influences

Cartoonist Robert Crumb and his comics Wierdo and Zap, animator and illustrator Bob Camp who you all would know for Ren and Stimpy, everyone I mentioned in question 4 along with many others, and everyone else I encounter on a daily basis is prey to becoming an influence. I am an observant person who soaks in all my surroundings, often whether I want to or not, which is regurgitated in reincarnated forms through the artwork I create.

What mediums do you enjoy working in?

I enjoy oil paint, acrylic, enamel, colored pencils, Illustration markers, oil pastels...if you can draw or paint with it, I like it.
