Where were you born? Year, Country, State. Where do you live currently?

I was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico in 1975 and raised in a small fishing town named La Parguera but currently I live in Hollywood, Florida.

What initially drew you to drawing pretty pictures?

My father showed me how to draw since I was a little kid and then since that moment I started to help my schoolmates and other people with drawing and paintings for school projects.

Who is your favorite skateboarder, living or dead? Any ties to skateboarding?

My favorite skateboarder is Tony Hawk. I enjoy carving on my skateboard that reminds me of surfing the waves of Puerto Rico.

Who is your favorite artist, living or dead?

I don’t have a favorite artist because I learn something from every artist.

When you're not creating amazing works of art, what do you enjoy doing?

When I am not creating works of art, I enjoy anything outdoor such as surfing, SUP, skating, mountain biking and spending time with my girl friend, my doggie and my good friends.

Who are your biggest influences?

One of my biggest influences is my dad; he showed me how to take and transferred my emotions into paper, canvas. He also teaches me and always reminded me “not to count with what I don’t have”…I still use his clever words to my benefit. I also consider my mother a big influence in my life for everything she have done to make me who I am.

What mediums do you enjoy working in?

My pieces evoke critical views of social, political and cultural issues. I journal my life’s perspectives and experiences in pencil, ink, and paint—using the canvas as an abstract mirror to reflect my mental images and convey my emotions. The communion of words, lines, or shapes meld on canvas into one—becoming the allusions of my personal reality.

My art consist of abstract drawings in pencil, color, acrylic and ink, including three-dimensional sculptures. It draws the eye into a maze of empathetic images, one within the other. My anxious imagination has been inspired by nostalgic memories of my poignant life events and native metropolis of San Juan, Puerto Rico and South Florida.
