When you're not creating amazing works of art, what do you enjoy doing?
I'm a pretty calm person. I like reading, drinking coffee, growing plants, listening to hip hop and motown, and hanging out with my husband, my cats, and my five month old, Nickolas.
Who are your biggest influences?
Oh man so many. I love illustrators and artists like Audrey Kawasaki, Mark Ryden, David Choe, Herakut, Tomer Hanuka…
What mediums do you enjoy working in?
Oils are my absolute favorite, I love the amount of control they give you. But if I'm just scribbling in my sketchbook I like Bic .005 mechanical pencils, Micron 007s and regular old ballpoint pens. And these days, I do a lot of digital work too.
Anything else you want to tell?
I'm excited to be a part of the show, and I'm honored to be working with such a cool space and such talented people!
Where were you born? Year, Country, State. Where do you live currently?
I was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1984. I currently live in Detroit, MI, and absolutely love it here.
What initially drew you to drawing pretty pictures?
I have no idea what drew me to it, but I started drawing the minute I could hold a pencil and I haven't stopped since.
Who is your favorite skateboarder, living or dead? Any ties to skateboarding?
Rodney Mullen. I myself cannot skateboard, due to a fear of pain and general lack of any athletic skill whatsoever, but I love watching those who can. I'm totally fascinated by their fearlessness and style.
