Who is your favorite artist, living or dead?
Georges Mathieu. I saw one of his paintings in a book in High School, and I've been fascinated ever since. It really doesn't show up much in my current work, but his work definitely had a huge influence on me.
When you're not creating amazing works of art, what do you enjoy doing?
Watching cartoons and brewing beer.
Who are your biggest influences?
My friends and fellow artists. Nothing gets me more psyched up to work on a new painting than going to an art show.
What mediums do you enjoy working in?
I work pretty exclusively in acrylic paint.
Anything else you want to tell?
Check out mikebilz.com to see more of my work, and thanks to everyone at Art Deck Co. for inviting me to participate in this show!
Where were you born? Year, Country, State. Where do you live currently?
Born and raised in San Diego California, and currently living in Los Angeles.
What initially drew you to drawing pretty pictures?
It probably had to do with all of the cartoons I was watching growing up. A friend of mine taught me how to draw a ninja turtle when I was a kid, and I never really stopped after that.
Who is your favorite skateboarder, living or dead? Any ties to skateboarding?
I skateboarded all through high school and college, though I never got especially good. I always dug guys like Bam Margera and Jamie Thomas, who just threw themselves at crazy tricks without much thought to the consequences.
