Lady Spoon

Where were you born? Year, Country, State. Where do you live currently?

I was born in Grand Junction, Colorado USA in 1981. I currently live in Grand Junction, Colorado USA.

What initially drew you to drawing pretty pictures?

You could say it's in my blood. I grew up surrounded by ridiculously talented artists. My mother was an amazing seamstress and crafter extraordinar. My Grandmother and her twin sister are both professional artists and have taught oil painting classes my entire life. My aunt is also an extremely talented oil painter and basket weaver. Finally my Grandfather, Father, and Uncle were all very skilled carpenters and tinkers that could build anything your heart could desire. I learned so much from all of them, and the mixture of all that knowledge has created my very unique style of art.

Who is your favorite skateboarder, living or dead? Any ties to skateboarding?

I admire skateboarders. It takes some crazy skills that a super klutz like myself doesn't have to pull off moves like that. I enjoy watching Chris Cole, Ryan Schekler, and Bam Margera, and come on, who doesn't just absolutely love Rob Dyrdek.

Who is your favorite artist, living or dead?

Oooo... My goodness. This is an impossible question to answer. I love so many artists. A few of my current favorites are Jason Limon, Pinky Toast, Dean McDowell, Christopher Kerry, Apricot Mantle, Colin Christian, Brynn Elizabeth, Emi Slade, Mab Graves...this list could go on forever.....

When you're not creating amazing works of art, what do you enjoy doing?

I love spending time with my amazing husband, our two wonderful boys, and our awesome family and friends. I enjoy cooking, crafting, and exploring all the beauty that Colorado life has to offer.

Who are your biggest influences?

I'm influenced daily by all the new and amazing artists that I follow. Right now I'd say MaloApril, CallowLily, Sheri DeBow, and Amanda Louise Spade are some of the most influential artists in my world.

What mediums do you enjoy working in?

If I'm painting it's acrylics, if drawing I use my prisma colored pencils, but as a 3D assemblage artist I love it all. I've been sculpting a lot lately using Magic Sculpt epoxy clay, as well as customizing Kid Robot Munny doll.
