Frank A. Bella
When you're not creating amazing works of art, what do you enjoy doing?
Besides eating, sex and sleep (rarely), I'm pretty much always working on an art project. All work and no play, and when I'm not being a hermit, I'd like to think that I'm not very dull at all.
Who are your biggest influences?
Since I mostly do Rock Poster art, my biggest influence is definitely the "Big Five"; Wes Wilson, Stanley Mouse, Victor Moscoso, Alton Kelley and Rick Griffin.
What mediums do you enjoy working in?
I spent years kicking ass with the pen & ink. Due to a few injuries, it's hard to hold a pen for very long, so I retired the ink. Also, my eyesight is getting pretty bad. Now I'm rocking the art out totally digital. I'm so deep in the rabbit hole, I've become one with my computer.
Anything else you want to tell?
One of the greatest discoveries I've made in all my years of experience is that if you stay positive, positive things happen. The Universe listens.
Where were you born? Year, Country, State. Where do you live currently?
Born in Blue Island, IL, in 1960, and raised on the Southside of Chicago. Currently living in Chico, CA.
What initially drew you to drawing pretty pictures?
My mother was an artist, she did this incredible stuff on canvas with oil paints. I guess watching her paint from my crib is the reason I'm an artist.
Who is your favorite skateboarder, living or dead? Any ties to skateboarding?
I guess I'm going to have to go with My Name Is Earl, Jason Lee. Most people only know him as an actor and have no idea he's also a great skateboarder.
