Cisco Brown

Where were you born? Year, Country, State. Where do you live currently?

My name is Francisco (Cisco) Brown. Born in California U.S.A where I spent the first 9 years of my life. I currently reside in Iowa where I live with my 2 year old son.

What initially drew you to drawing pretty pictures?

Art has been a huge part of my life setting me straight whenever I need to reboot my mind. At 7 years old I had an uncle who was an artist and said the one thing to me that would change my life forever. He drew a pocture of a favorite cartoon character of ours. I asked him how he had such great talent and he said, "When I was your age I began drawing. If you start now you will he better than me." From that moment on I vowed to do just that.

Who is your favorite skateboarder, living or dead? Any ties to skateboarding?

I've always absolutely loved skateboarding. I used to skate for quite some time until I decided it was time to start life and get a good job. I wouldn't say that I've ever had an all time favorite skateboarder, because just like my art I enjoy many different styles.

Who is your favorite artist, living or dead?

Casey Baugh and David Kassan. Two of my all time favorite artists. They knowledge they wield is something I have been chasing to achieve for the past two years.

When you're not creating amazing works of art, what do you enjoy doing?

When I am not painting or drawing I enjoy viewing the world in it's different natural lights. I often go on walks with my son when we aren't too busy playing and making a mess with paint. Something about the way light interacts with any and all entity's is just fascinating.

Who are your biggest influences?

I would say my biggest influence is a local artist and friend Tony Cavallo. From abstract to realism he gets the job done, well. Through idle conversation there is always much to learn from him whether it be art or life.

What mediums do you enjoy working in?

My favorite medium has been charcoal. Though for the last few month I have been export emerging with oil paint in hopes to reach the level of mastery as I have with charcoal and graphite.

Anything else you want to tell?

When it is all said and done I plan to he able to work in any and every medium at any given time. Art is my soul.
