I was always interested in Art I still have one of my first drawings from when I was three of a tad pole. When I was young I remember going to the library and checking out books on how to draw animals and dinosaurs. Through out school I was always drawing in class. Eventually I took some art classes in college and got my A.A. in art and really focused on oil painting.
Who is your favorite skateboarder, living or dead? Any ties to skateboarding?
Skateboarding still continues to have a big influence on my art. In 94 when I started skating I was really drawn to the graphics and colors of skateboard logos. These images and the graffiti where we skated were like my galleries. Still to this day my favorite skateboarder is Rodney Mullen I can still remember the first time I saw Plan B Second Hand smoke and was blown away by this video. I was really influenced by his street skating and technical style. The dedication and passion I learned through skateboarding has been a huge inspiration for my art and paintings.
When you're not creating amazing works of art, what do you enjoy doing?
When I’m not painting I enjoy being outdoors skateboarding, photography, toy collecting, or spending time with my family and friends.
Who are your biggest influences?
I’m driven and influenced by a lot of artists. Especially ones that have motivation and dedication to better there work and push there own limits of creativity and technical abilities. I love when an artist or artwork inspires me and influences me to better my work or when I see something I’ve never seen before and it changes the way I think. This is what I enjoy so much about influences from the artist community.
What mediums do you enjoy working in?
I really enjoy working in oil paint on canvas I think it suits my realism style of painting. Most importantly the techniques and the process to create the illusion of realism through these mediums is a lot of fun.
