Bruce Gossett

Where were you born? Year, Country, State. Where do you live currently?

Born in the midwest at the end of the sixties. Did a stint in Huntington Beach, Califas in the early seventies and been in Sacramento since 74.

What initially drew you to drawing pretty pictures?

Don't know about the "pretty"part, but stickers and graphics from skateboarding and BMX when I was a kid is probably where it all started.

Who is your favorite skateboarder, living or dead? Any ties to skateboarding?

Ricky Winsor, John Cardiel and Steve Cabballero. Lots of good memories from skateboarding in the seventies -- urethane wheels, paying to skate in a park, wedge kicks, homemade boards. And built many a ramp in the backyard...fast forward to now, I like to hit the park every so often. Still love it. Not very good, but....

Who is your favorite artist, living or dead?

Norman Saunders, JC Lyndecker, Robert Williams, Ed Roth. Too many to list.

When you're not creating amazing works of art, what do you enjoy doing?

Rods & customs, drinkin' beer, hangin' with my girl and pooches.

Who are your biggest influences?

Actually,  what, not who -- music and stand-up comedy.

What mediums do you enjoy working in?

Whatever's in front of me...acrylic, one-shot, screenprinting ink, airbrushing, pinstriping, canvas, metal, wood and above all  pencil and paper.

Anything else you want to tell?

I enjoy paintin' skate decks a lot...do it whenever I get a chance. Its an odd shape to work with that poses challenges. I like that.
